Maaseik is a beautiful old town on the banks of the Maas. From here you can drive straight into the Maas Valley with its beautiful nature reserves and villages worth seeing. After getting off, it is nice to relax at the old market of Maaseik.
Bichterweerd
The route starts at Toerisme Maaseik. Here you will find plenty of information about this beautiful town and the beautiful surroundings. From the city center you can drive straight into the fields along the Maas. What peace and space you will find here! Cycling along car-free roads and cycle paths, you can fully enjoy the picturesque Belgian Limburg. You pass Bichterweerd, a nature reserve that partly consists of a lake created by gravel extraction.
Oh and Laak
On the other side of the Maas you drive through the Netherlands. Here too, it is wonderful to cycle between the flowery floodplains. You pass the beautiful Grevenbichtermolen, which originally dates from 1660. You will also pass through Ohé and Laak, two beautiful old villages on the (former) Island in the Maas. After disembarking you will find yourself on one of the most beautiful market squares in Belgium. There are plenty of cozy terraces to end your day in style.
