Explore the land of wine and marl

It is wonderfully peaceful to cycle in the gently sloping surroundings of Riemst, Belgium. Along the way you will pass through some old villages with a rich cultural history.

Haspengouw
From the parking lot where your route starts, you can drive straight into rural Haspengouw. An authentic region where wheat and sugar beets are grown in the fields. You also regularly see orchards there. Genoelselderen is the first village on your route. Here you will see, among other things, the beautiful seventeenth-century St. Martin's Church. Genoelselderen Castle is the only wine castle in Belgium. According to tradition, the Romans already planted vineyards here. The domain can be visited, a nice break!

Beautiful Millen
In the countryside you will pass some characteristic square farms. You have beautiful views over stream valleys and forests. It is so idyllic here that this region is also called the Tuscany of Belgium. In the village of Herderen you will experience the Limburg geniality, a nice place to take a break for a coffee with a local pie. The village of Millen is so beautiful that it enjoys a protected village view! Be sure to visit the old moated castle!
