Today you cycle through the woods, but also past nice old villages, a beautiful park and an impressive castle.
Vresselse Bos
Your route begins in Beek en Donk. You'll cycle along the Zuid-Willemsvaart canal to Mariahout. A little further on, you'll enter the Vresselse Bos (Vresselse Forest). This 250-hectare forest of Scots pine, oak, and beech was planted on a sand ridge in the 1920s. You'll also cycle through fragrant coniferous forests on the Papenvoorste Heide. Stiphout is a former village that has managed to retain its friendly village character, although it now falls within the city of Helmond.
The Warande
City Park De Warande is a former nature reserve, where the former residents of Helmond Castle are buried on an island, surrounded by ancient beech trees and an impressive weeping willow.
