Today you cycle through the woods, but also past nice old villages, a beautiful park and an impressive castle.
Vresse Forest
Your route starts in Beek en Donk. You cycle along the Zuid-Willemsvaart to Mariahout. A little further on you dive into the Vresselse Bos. The 250-hectare forest of Scots pines, oaks and beeches was planted on a cover sand ridge in the 1920s. You also drive through fragrant coniferous forests on the Papenvoorste Heide. Stiphout is a former village that has retained its pleasant village character, although it now falls within the city of Helmond.
The Warande
Stadspark De Warande is a former nature reserve, where the former inhabitants of Helmond Castle are buried on an island, surrounded by old beeches and an imposing weeping willow.
