The authentic Kempen: Leenderbos and Leenderstrijp

Leende is already a beautiful old village, but when you walk through the hamlet of Leenderstrijp you really go back in time. Here you will spot one Kempen long-facade farm after another!

Leenderstrijp
You first walk through the lovely Leende and then to the farming hamlet of Leenderstrijp. In this hamlet you will see many centuries-old long-fronted farms. While walking you can enjoy the glimpse back into Kempen times that you get here. What a beautiful authentic landscape you will find here! The St. John's Chapel just outside the village completes it completely.

Leenderbos
A little further on you will discover De Heimolen, which is now owned by Staatsbosbeheer. The route continues along the edge of the Leenderbos. This Kempen landscape with its clear height differences was created during the last ice age by deposits of sand. Heath, fens, drifting dunes, winding paths and farms: this area is never boring. On the small heathlands you can encounter the nightjar, the viviparous lizard or the gentian blue. Even cranes and black storks visit the heath as a stopping place.
