The Veluwe forests sometimes seem endless, especially around Uddel and Elspeet. You can drive here for hours, right through the greenery. But there are also beautiful historical places to discover here!

Windmill Wenum
Just outside Wenum you cycle past the Windkorenmolen van Wenum, a thatched ground sailer. This mill is the third one on this site: its predecessors both burned down. This mill dates from 1840 and was moved from Baambrugge. The current owners are heirs of F. Vorderman, who bought the polder mill in 1913.

Cannenburgh
You cycle straight through the woods, past Uddel and Elspeet. On the outskirts of Vaassen you cycle past the ancient Kasteel de Cannenburgh, which is worth a visit. This castle was built on the remains of an earlier, probably fourteenth-century castle. In 1543, the former ruin came into the hands of the famous warlord Maarten van Rossum. He gave the order to rebuild the castle, but died before it was completed.
