From Harderwijk you can make a tour along two of the Veluwerandmeren: the Wolderwijd and Nuldernauw. A varied day full of natural beauty and cultural history.
Picturesque Harderwijk
This former fishing town has a rich history, in the old center you can see some beautiful monumental buildings. You drive out of the city along the water, it is wonderful to make kilometers in the green here. From junction 38 you will see the fourteenth-century Arkemheenpolder on your left, one of the oldest polders in the Netherlands.
Horsterwold
On the other side of the water you drive through the Horsterwold. With about 4200 hectares, this is the largest contiguous deciduous forest in Western Europe. You will see chestnuts, oaks, poplars and cherry trees. The trees have grown so fast on the former sea clay that it seems as if they have been here for more than a century. On the edge of Zeewolde you can grab a bench on the beach and enjoy the view over the Wolderwijd.
