Get to know the water-rich polders around East and Westgraftdijk with this walk. Along the way you can relax in this quiet area and you will also find many interesting sights here.

Fishing village De Rijp
You start this walk on the edge of the former fishing village of De Rijp. Between the 17th and 19th century, De Rijp was very prosperous due to whaling and herring fishing. Later that industry moved to other cities in North Holland. At the start of the route you can take a look at the Museum Jan Boon "Het Walhuis", Town Hall De Rijp and the Grote Kerk De Rijp. Here you will discover some traces of the rich history of the village. Furthermore, in De Rijp you can also settle down at Het Wapen van Munster for a snack and a drink. Then you can then hit the road full of energy.

On foot through the polders
Through the polders you set course to Oost-Graftdijk, West-Graftdijk and back to the Rijp. You walk along the polder Kamerhop, which was drained in 1643.

A historic dislike loft
You will find a workers' house on the edge of Oost-Graftdijk. This is one of the few completely wooden houses on the former Schermereiland. In the so-called hating shed behind the house, hemp used to be divided and bundled into bushes. It is the only historically disliked loft that can still be found here.
