Description
Experience farm life in the heart of the Randstad. Walk from a cozy farm campsite to the Zoetermeerse Plas for a cup of coffee on the farm and walk back through the Buytenpark via the polders of Stompwijk.
Zoetermeer Lake
After a wonderful night's sleep at Camping De Drie Morgen you set off. Along the edge of the Buytenpark you walk through a surprisingly wild landscape with heathland and beautiful viewpoints. You will see Galloway cattle, Exmoor ponies and Drenthe heath sheep. Are we still in the Randstad? You would say no, but it really is. The Zoetermeerse Plas, a little further on, was dug for sand extraction. Now you have a wonderful view over the rippling water and the surrounding vast polder land. Variety trumps with this route!
Stompwijk
On the north side of the lake you walk through the Prielenbos, a nice and rough swamp forest. Take a break at the't Geertje farm: you can have a nice bite to eat or a drink here, but you can also take a tasty souvenir home or stock up on a picnic. In Stompwijk you can see a few swing bridges and drawbridges along the canal. You soon walk back into the polder, after which you return to your starting point via the Buytenpark.
