This cycling tour leads through the very rural and green landscape around Maaseik. The route offers you wonderful views over extensive arable land and you will visit a few quiet but picturesque villages such as Aldeneik, Neeroeteren and Heppeneert. The route has been designed in a loop, with the Tourist Reception Center on the Market in Maaseik serving as a base. During this cycle tour you follow the generally quiet and flat paths of the cycle route network that emerged in this province. Very intensive investments have been made in that network and it is still being expanded. On the Markt you can enjoy a cup of coffee under the trees on one of the many terraces, surrounded by beautiful historic buildings. You can walk and cycle endlessly here in unspoilt nature, along the Maas or through nature reserves. For more information about this beautiful region, visit Tourism Maaseik!

The Klaaskensmolen (Kluyskensmolen and Kleeskensmolen) is a watermill of the lower stroke type. The mill work is still present, including the concrete sluice, the metal water wheel, all movable work with sledge saw and all accessories. It concerns a brick building of one storey under a gable roof of mechanical tiles. In 1994, a thorough restoration began with renovation of the building, overhaul of the saw machine and the construction of a new water wheel. The Klaaskensmolen is the last working water-powered sawmill in Flanders.
