A beautiful varied cycling route, through the water (yes, you read that right!), past Open Air Museum Bokrijk and via the lovely city of Genk through the beautiful nature reserves of the Limburg Kempen.
Bokrijk Open Air Museum
After having informed yourself well at the Houthalen-Helchteren Tourist Information Office, you drive through forests and meadows to Bokrijk, which is known as an open-air museum. Through the ponds behind the domain you cycle between the ponds on a sunken cycle path. This project is called'Cycling through the water\\\', a fun experience! You can see the water level at eye level. From the ponds you can now look nicely through to the old buildings of the open-air museum. The museum is well worth a visit.
City of Genk
Genk offers you a combination of cultural history and vast nature reserves. Thanks to the coal mines, the Limburg city grew into one of the most important industrial cities in Flanders. Now you can shop extensively and have a nice dinner. Genk is surrounded by a quiet, almost untouched landscape. As early as the nineteenth century, wealthy people from Brussels and Ghent, as well as artists and writers, settled here to be vitalized and inspired by the landscape. Today, cyclists have taken their place!
