It is wonderful to cycle through the many quiet nature reserves around Bree in Belgium. A tour that will leave you hungry. That's convenient: in this region you will find many places where you can eat comfortably and well!
Abeek Valley
First you come through the Abeek valley, a picturesque landscape where you can make wonderful kilometers. What immediately strikes you: the silence! You cross the Netherlands for a while, after which you enter the Hasselterbroek in Belgium: a nature reserve where you will find a mix of meadows, small forests and moors. In Tongerlo you can see the St. Peter's Church, which originally dates from the fifteenth century.
Castle Park
In Opitter you drive through the castle park laid out in English landscape style. The castle, which was built in 1900, has been demolished, but you can still see a nineteenth-century flour mill that serves as a home. A little later you cycle into the Itterdal, a beautiful nature reserve. In Reppel you will pass sights such as the presbytery from 1616, the Monshof and the ancient Reppelmolen. You can also see the striking Sint-Willibrorduskerk here. You can contact Stad Bree for more information about this region.
