It is wonderful to cycle through the many quiet nature reserves around Bree in Belgium. A trip that will make you hungry. That's a good thing: in this region you will find many places where you can enjoy a nice and good meal!
Abeek Valley
First you pass through the Abeek Valley, a picturesque landscape where you can travel for miles. What immediately stands out here: the silence! You briefly cross the Netherlands, after which you drive into Hasselterbroek in Belgium: a nature reserve where you will find a mix of meadows, small forests and heathlands. In Tongerlo you can see St. Peter's Church, which originally dates from the fifteenth century.
Castle Park
In Opitter you drive through the castle park, laid out in English landscape style. The castle, which was built in 1900, has been demolished, but you can see a nineteenth-century flour mill that serves as a home. A little later you cycle into the Itterdal, a beautiful nature reserve. In Reppel you will pass sights such as the parsonage from 1616, the Monshof and the centuries-old Reppel mill. You will also see the striking St. Willibrordus Church here. You can contact Stad Bree for more information about this region.
