On the outskirts of Delft you will find the Delftse Hout: a nature reserve with an arboretum and heempark. You can enjoy the greenery just a stone's throw from the city! You start today with a terrace between the old chestnut trees at Het Rieten Dak, along the canal between the Grote Plas and the Hertenkamp. This is an ideal base for your discovery of the Delftse Hout, a beautiful recreation and nature reserve. It consists of an old city park (Hertenkamp) with old trees and a unique peat area with canals and ponds. A little later you walk into the woods and wet meadows of the adjacent Bieslandse polder. This area has a strong connection with the city of Delft. The water from this polder was once used by Delft breweries, later the peat from this area disappeared into stoves. You can spot many water birds in the Bieslandse polder, just like on the Grote Plas.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
