Walking along the Reeuwijkse Plassen

The Reeuwijkse Plassen are a beautiful nature reserve just above Gouda. Put on your walking shoes and come experience the natural beauty for yourself. The route starts at Deli Lounge in Reeuwijk. Enjoy something tasty here before you walk onto the 's-Gravenbroekseweg. You will see some monumental buildings and farms here. There are a number of charming drawbridges spanning the wide canal. It is also nice to walk further along through green and quiet streets. A little later you walk onto the car-free dike that is located in the middle of the lakes. Here you have beautiful views over the lakes and reed collars. The Reeuwijkse Plassen were created in the eighteenth century by peat extraction, as can be seen from the rectangular allotment. Many birds like to perch on the water, it is best to admire them with binoculars.
