Schinnen, Limburg, The Netherlands
Hiking route: 750854
Provided by: Groots Genieten
From the start you walk into the Stammenderbos, a sloped forest with oaks, birches and beeches. What a silence! In some treetops you can see mistletoe, a semi-parasite that only occurs in South Limburg in the Netherlands. In Sweikhuizen you pass the beautiful Baroque village church from 1739. Further on you walk through a characteristic Limburg hollow road. You can make a stop at Gasterij Kasteel Terborgh before walking to Wolfhagen. Then you enter the Wolfhagerbos, this poplar and willow forest is intersected by the Kakkert stream. On the Krekelberg south of Schinnen you walk through a park-like landscape where there is a beautiful old Maria chapel. The last part of the route runs along the idyllic banks of the Geleenbeek.
