Round Keukenhof forest

The Keukenhofbos is a nice place for a nice walk. The Rondje Keukenhofbos takes you to this forest, which used to be part of the Keukenhof Estate . Now you can walk beautifully on leafy paths and avenues. Do look up. In the old trees, long-eared owls doze between the branches during the day.

It is wonderful to walk through the beautiful old forest with large, thick trees in the middle of the bulb fields. The Keukenhofbos is a varied and hilly forest area with beech, oak and coniferous trees. Woodpeckers, owls, tits and pigeons nest in the hollows of the trees. Great blue herons make large nests in the tops of the Scots pines in spring.

In the forest'taste\\\' you can still taste the 15th-century history of Slot Teylingen (Sassenheim). The forest where you can now walk so nicely, was the'kitchen dune\\\' for the castle. The proceeds of this dune forest, such as game, cattle, herbs and berries, were intended for the kitchen of Slot Teylingen. Hence the name Keukenhof forest!
