Abeek
The route starts at Hotel-Restaurant-Forelvisserij De Watermolen. You can enjoy a nice terrace here before you drive into the countryside. This area is sparsely populated, and on the car-free roads it is wonderful to travel for miles between the arable fields and grasslands and the small forests. You cross the Abeek twice, get off here to enjoy the view over the idyllic stream valley.
Wijffelterbroek
Just across the border you drive through the Wijffelterbroek, a small swamp forest surrounded by flowery moist meadows. A little later you drive along a winding path through the Laura forests and cross the border again. In Belgium you cycle through a number of adjacent nature reserves, such as the Lozerheide, the Berghei and the Kolisbos. Riding for many kilometers through the woods is wonderful cycling!
