The North Holland artists' village of Bergen is known for its conviviality and beautiful monumental houses. In the area you will find plenty of variety in the Schoorlse Duinen and characteristic villages such as Oudkarspel.
Schoorl Dunes
The Kijkduin is the first attraction on your route. This flour mill dates from 1772. Further on you will pass the visitor center for the Schoorlse Duinen. You will learn more about this beautiful nature reserve here. The Schoorlse Duinen is not only the widest dune area in the Netherlands, it is also where the highest dune tops are located. The sloping paths lead you through forests, dunes and heathlands. In between you can stop for a nice terrace at Strandpaviljoen Hargen.
Regthuis Oudkarspel
In the artists' village of Bergen you will see many beautiful buildings. The area around the fifteenth-century ruined church enjoys a protected village view, you will experience a wonderful historic atmosphere here. From the Kanaaldijk in Koedijk you can see the Sluismolen, a polder mill from 1575. In the Geestmerambacht you see a mix of groves and meadows. The Regthuis Oudkarspel is a museum that is located in the former town hall from 1744. Further on is the beautiful Allemanskerk, the oldest parts date from the eleventh century.
