A walk through the Schoorlse Dunes

Ready for a day at the sea, beach and nature? Then come and walk in the Schoorlse Duinen. And afterwards enjoy a terrace at Strandpaviljoen Hargen.

Four seasons
From Strandpaviljoen Hargen you can walk straight into the Schoorlse Duinen, one of the most beautiful nature reserves in the Netherlands. Here you can take a nice, quiet walk over the rolling paths. This area is suitable for all seasons. In the spring you can hear many birds, from June to September you can see thousands of pine orchids and heather plants blooming. And in the fall you can find more than 800 types of mushrooms here. In the winter the dunes protect you from the cold wind.

In addition to dunes and heathland, this nature reserve also consists of extensive forests. These were created in the nineteenth century, because the residents of nearby Schoorl wanted to prevent their village from disappearing under the drifting sand. In between, you can walk along the Kerkbrink in Groet. You will see a few beautiful buildings here. The Witte Kerkje is also beautiful, it dates from 1639. Back at Strandpaviljoen Hargen it is time for a drink on a terrace.
