Hiking route: 748048

This route takes you through the vast West Frisian polders around De Noord and Veenhuizen. A nice trip to get a breath of fresh air.
Stolp farm
The route starts at the edge of the village of De Noord. You walk into the polder on a low-traffic road. Here you can enjoy the characteristic landscape of vast grasslands that are bordered by trees that have grown crooked in the wind. You also regularly pass farmhouses that are surrounded by ditches for three quarters. What a nice and quiet walk here, while enjoying the high Dutch skies.
Polder mills
In Veenhuizen you will pass a bell chair. In the modern church is the tomb of Baron van Brederode from 1633. In the outlying area you walk along a number of canals. You will pass three beautiful polder windmills. First you see the Four Winds from 1891. Further on is De Veenhuizer from 1603. The Berkmeermolen dates back to 1608. What a cultural history!
