Description
Rosendael Castle is located just above Arnhem, on the edge of the Rozendaalse Bos. On the estate you can visit the park with the famous Bedriegertjes. It is wonderfully quiet in the woods.
Rozendaalse Bos
The route starts at WOODZ, a surprisingly nice restaurant. From the terrace you can walk straight into the woods. Start nice and early so you can fully enjoy the fresh air and beautiful light. After a while you walk into a more open landscape with grasslands. You will also see some old stately buildings and monumental farms here. Further on you walk into the woods again, after a while you pass an old mill house.
Rosendael Castle
You pass the Rosendael Estate. Only the large round tower remains of the fourteenth-century castle, the rest of the building dates from 1616. In the castle you can see how the nobility used to live. You can also visit the monumental castle park with its beautiful trees and the famous Bedriegertjes. It is one of the oldest parks in the Netherlands. The route then takes you through the Rozendaalse Bos again. What a silence!
