A day full of Gelderland's natural beauty

Just above Arnhem you can drive straight into the Veluwe. There's little that can beat a nice day in the woods. But first you drive through some beautiful Arnhem city parks.

City parks
The route starts at WOODZ, a surprisingly nice restaurant. Grab a seat on a terrace, enjoy the fresh forest air and immediately get on your bike with a good feeling. You can warm your legs in Velp and Rozendaal, two beautiful villages. A little later you cycle through Park Klarenbeek, the Sonsbeek Park and the Zijpendaal Estate. What beautiful city parks! You will see some monuments, such as Zijpendaal Castle, which originally dates from 1764.

Deelen Air Base
A little further on you drive onto the Veluwe. That means cycling many kilometers between old deciduous trees and fragrant conifers. Take a deep breath and breathe in the fresh forest air. You pass through Otterlo and Hoenderloo. Further afield you can visit Deelen Air Base Museum at regular intervals. Here you will learn more about the night air war over the Netherlands during the Second World War. Then you drive along the edge of the Rozendaalse Veld, a vast heathland area. What a silence!
