In Edam you can admire many monuments. Put on your walking shoes and come and enjoy a unique historical atmosphere.
From here you walk a bit through the Purmer, a former inland sea that was finally drained in 1622. Here you have panoramic views of extensive grasslands and ditches that are lined by trees. You can also see some authentic farmhouses. What a nice quiet walk here!
The old city center of Edam is located within a former fortress. From the former city walls you have a beautiful view of the beautiful harbor. Because of the many old buildings Edam enjoys a protected cityscape. Walk at your leisure along the canals and beautiful facades and soak up that unique historical atmosphere. You pass the Zuidpolder, a polder mill from 1635. The fifteenth-century Grote Kerk is the largest hall church in the Netherlands.
