Purmerpolder
From here you walk a bit through the Purmer, a former inland sea that was finally drained in 1622. You have wide views over vast grasslands and ditches that are lined with trees. You will also see some authentic stolp farms. What a wonderfully peaceful walk it is here!
Historical Edam
The old city centre of Edam is located within a former fortress. From the former city walls you have a beautiful view of the magnificent harbour. Due to the many old buildings, Edam enjoys a protected cityscape. Take a leisurely stroll along the canals and beautiful facades and soak up that unique historical atmosphere. You will pass the Zuidpolder, a polder mill from 1635. The fifteenth-century Grote Kerk is the largest hall church in the Netherlands.
