Description
This walk takes you from Broekhuizen through the forests of the Tienraijse and Swolgenderheide. You will also pass through the Schuitwater nature reserve. In Lottum you will find roses and castle Borggraaf.
Tienraijse & Swolgenderheide
The route starts in Broekhuizen, a beautiful village on the Maas in Limburg. You will see a few beautiful monumental buildings here, such as the Sint-Nicolaaskerk from 1500. In the woods of the Tienraijse and Swolgenderheide you walk on a gently sloping path. You walk between fragrant conifers and over a heath. It is nice to walk through this beautiful nature reserve.
Rozendorp
The adjacent Schuitwater is a nature reserve that was formed around the remains of some old Maas arms. Around Lottum you can see many colorful roses during the season. About twenty million roses are grown in this region every year. On the edge of the village is the Borggraaf, a monumental country house from 1551.
