Walking on the Sint Jansberg and the Mookerheide

You will not only find a lovely rolling landscape in the south of Limburg. It is also wonderful to walk in the northern tip around the village of Mook.

Sint Jansberg
You start this route at De Dolfijn walking and cycling terrace. From here you walk over the dike along the Mookerplas. In the outside area you look out over the rippling water, the fields and the forests on the horizon. Just past Riethorst you walk into the woods on the Sint Jansberg. And you notice that immediately: it is wonderfully fresh and quiet here.

Roman villa
You pass the place where the remains of a Roman villa were discovered in 1931. The foundations have been partly rebuilt. A little further on you will pass the Bovenste Plasmolen, a water mill from 1725. Paper was made here for over 100 years. In 1846 the mill was converted for grinding and hulling grain. You walk through the forest to the rolling Mookerheide, where you have beautiful views of the area.
