From Voorthuizen through the Gelderse Valley

Your route starts at Restaurant De Bunckman. In the Gelderse Vallei, fields, streams, and grasslands alternate. Along the road, you regularly see an old, characteristic farmhouse. The kilometers seem to fly by here, so peaceful and beautiful is the landscape. On the edge of Kootwijkerbroek, you pass the Puurveense Molen. This beautiful grain mill burned down in 1964 but was rebuilt in 2016. Just past Harskamp, you pass the Lana Mariana, a grain mill from 1739 whose origin of the striking, almost romantic-sounding name is no longer known. The mill is currently used as a residence. Just past Otterlo, you cycle briefly into the Roekelse Bos; on the Vijfsprongweg, you cycle along the shady edge of the forest while looking out over the fields. What variety!
