A long day in the Brabant nature

This route takes you through some characteristic Brabant villages. Get on your bike and enjoy the first kilometers of De Mortelen: a small-scale scenic landscape of poplar groves, coniferous forests and grasslands and arable lands. The landscape and the silence are reminiscent of the old-fashioned Brabant rural nature before the land consolidation. Just before Middelbeers you pass the Himbergen, a striking remnant of a flour mill from 1884. In the village itself you pass the New and the Old Sint-Willibrordus Church. The old church dates from 1500, the new building was completed in 1927. Further on you pass through the Neterselse Heide with its fens and lookout tower. In Lennisheuvel you can still see some Brabant long-gable farms.
