Hiking route: 731130
Provided by: Groots Genieten
Veenendaal lends itself well to exploring on foot. Put on your walking shoes for a nice quiet walk.
Thimble Museum
You walk through a green urban district to the Thimble Museum. An interesting sight, because more than 60,000 thimbles are exhibited here! Further on is the Nieuwe Molen, a flour mill from 1911.
Cigar industry
Veenendaal originated as a peat colony. The town once consisted of a green with ribbon development. Nowadays Veenendaal is a large village at the foot of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. It owes its growth, among other things, to the cigar industry. Well-known Veenendaal brands were Panter and Ritmeester. On the edge of Veenendaal you can walk through the spacious park. A wonderfully quiet place.
