This route takes you right through the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Along the way you will pass many historical sights that are worth stopping for a while.

Historic sites
Park your car opposite Café & Terras Beauforthuis, in the middle of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Before you get on your bike, start with a nice cup of coffee and something delicious from the organic menu. The Beauforthuis is also a theater café, so who knows, you might stay longer for a concert or theater performance. The route continues to Austerlitz. Napoleon founded an encampment on the heath, but left it behind as a poverty-stricken settlement. This was the beginning of Austerlitz. A little further on you will pass the Pyramid of Austerlitz, which was built by order of Napoleon. You will also pass Koepel van Stoop, a country house on one of the highest points of the fairytale Henschoten estate.

Cycling through estates
During the cycle route you cycle past various estates. One of them is Landgoed De Viersprong. This estate was built in the second half of the 19th century. The estate is located in the middle of the region and has a striking and charming appearance. You will also cycle past Landgoed Den Treek and Buitenplaats De Hoogt. Buitenplaats De Hoogt is a beautiful estate with a castle in Maarn. The castle was extended in 1925 to the current building.

Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park
All these beautiful sights are located in the middle of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park. An oasis of peace, just outside the Randstad. A wonderful area to cycle through, full of beautiful nature. It is an area of forests, country estates and'mountains\\\'. You can enjoy cycling over the moraine, through heathlands, past castles and country estates, in the floodplains and the forest.

Sights

Pyramide van Austerlitz

3931MG Woudenberg

The 36-high pyramid was built in 1805 by soldiers of Napoleon and one of the highlights of the Heuvelrug. From the top you have a beautiful view of the region in clear weather.

Koepel van Stoop

Amsterdam banker JB Stoop wanted to build a country house on one of the highest points of the fairytale Henschoten estate. Because the groundwater was very deep, this turned out to be impractical and he decided against it. He only built a dome, after the Roman example and dedicated to Mercury. The stone dome is called the 'Dome of Stoop'. The pillars of the building come from the former Koopmansbeurs in Amsterdam, which was demolished in 1836. The dome used to be a tea house. The studio that is now housed in it can only be visited by appointment.

Landgoed De Viersprong

De Viersprong 82
3931MG Woudenberg

Landgoed De Viersprong was built in the second half of the 19th century. The estate is located in the middle of the region and has a striking and charming appearance. The building style of the country house, the romance of the chalet that was so fashionable at the time and a landscape that can be read like a history book make De Viersprong unique.

Landgoed Den Treek

3832 RT Leusden

Situated on the transition from the Utrechtse Heuvelrug to the Gelderse Vallei, bought by WH de Beaufort in 1807. The Henschoten estate was added to this by the marriage of his son Arnoud Jan to Anna Aleida Stoop. Together they cover 2,200 hectares of impressive nature.

As an alternative to the failed project at Henschoten, Stoop had Zocher designed the Molenbosch Estate in 1849. There is now a statue of Miss Annie on the bicycle in front of the house. In 1938 the surrounding forest and heathland were transferred to Staatsbosbeheer.
