Cycling through West Friesland

In West Friesland, you'll discover a vast polder landscape, charming ribbon villages, and a rich cultural history. In Wognum, for example, you'll pass the 15th-century Reformed Church. You'll also see several historic farms. Between junctions 40 and 39, you'll pass the former Spanbroek Town Hall, a magnificent building. Don't forget to take a look at the 16th-century village church! Further on, in Hoogwoud, you'll see the town hall from 1743 and also pass the Lastdrager, a polder mill from 1650. In the polders, you'll then enjoy the tranquility, natural beauty, and panoramic views. The route takes you through the historic heart of Medemblik, after which you cycle along the IJsselmeer to Wervershoof. The return journey passes through the small-scale Egboetswater nature reserve.
