Cycling through Westfriesland

Your route starts at Grandcafé de Zeedijk. In West Friesland you will be introduced to a vast polder landscape, charming ribbon villages and a rich cultural history. In Wognum, for example, you pass the Reformed Church from the fifteenth century. You will also see some monumental farms here. Between junctions 40 and 39 you will pass the former Spanbroek Town Hall, a beautiful building. Take a look at the sixteenth-century village church! Further on in Hoogwoud you will see the town hall from 1743, and you will also pass the Lastdrager: a polder mill from 1650. In the polders you can then enjoy the peace, the natural beauty and the views. The route takes you through the historic heart of Medemblik, after which you cycle along the IJsselmeer to Wervershoof. You drive back via the small-scale nature reserve Egboetswater.
