Description
In the Gelderse river area between the Waal and the Nederrijn you can make endless bike rides. This route takes you through various small towns and over the green floodplains that you find in this area. Jump on your bike and get to know this water-rich area.
Horticulture on the floodplains
Orchards, varied wet and dry landscapes and beautiful views. These are some of the things the Betuwe is known for. So there is a lot to look forward to when you go cycling in this area. The first part of this route runs through various villages on the floodplains of the Waal. Then you cycle through Dodewaard, Andelst, Zetten and Opheusden to the Nederrijn. You cycle through a flat landscape with a lot of horticulture. For example, Opheusden is known for the large-scale avenue tree nurseries that you find there. Look around you carefully to find nice places where you can go for fresh fruit and other delicacies from the land.
