Through the polders around Etten-Leur

Just outside Etten-Leur in Brabant, it is wonderful to cycle through the vast, unspoilt polders. This route also takes you past the old Liesbos and through the picturesque old village center of Etten.

Wet polders
From here you can drive straight into the polder. You pass the Zwartenbergse Molen, a polder mill from 1889. Then you drive over the tree-lined Haagsedijk past Strijpen, a nature reserve consisting of alder forests, swamps and hay fields. You will also find this unspoilt landscape further on when you cycle through the Fourth Bergboezem: a vast water storage and wet nature reserve in one. Beautiful!

Etten
After you have driven a bit through Breda, you cycle along the edge of the Liesbos: the largest old summer oak forest in the Netherlands. At Asparagus and Wijnboerderij De Santspuy you can stop off for a fun excursion or to visit the farm shop. In Etten you drive past De Bisschopsmolen, a beautiful corn mill from 1744. Thanks to the many monumental buildings, the Markt still exudes the atmosphere of a bygone era. What a nice village!
