Hiking in Etten-Leur, North Brabant, The Netherlands
Hiking route 673893
Provided by: Groots Genieten
From Leur you can walk straight into the Brabant polder. In the cozy old village center you can still see some beautiful monumental buildings.
From the parking lot you quickly walk into the tree-lined Haansberg. A nice street where you see some beautiful characteristic buildings. The name Leur is not positive: it used to refer to bad peat or bad soil. Walking through the countryside, you can see how part of the land has been cultivated into fertile agricultural land: a beautiful view. And ideal for a quiet walk to empty the proverbial battery.
Between nodes 94 and 95 the landscape looks a bit more unspoiled. You walk along the Kelsdonk nature reserve, a former water storage basin of the nearby river Mark. The area has preserved its rugged character, you will see flowery grasslands, alders and willows. There is a marina on the Westpolderplas. On the quay of the Leurse Haven you will pass De Lelie, a beautiful flour mill from 1804.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
