From Leur you can walk straight into the Brabant polder. In the cozy old village center you can still see a few beautiful monumental buildings.
bad peat
From the parking lot you quickly walk into the tree-lined Haansberg. A nice street where you can see some beautiful characteristic buildings. The name Leur is not positive: it used to refer to bad peat or bad soil. Walking through the countryside you can see how part of the land has been cultivated into fertile agricultural area: a beautiful view. And ideal for a quiet walk to empty the proverbial battery.
The lily
Between junctions 94 and 95 the landscape looks a bit more untouched. You walk along the Kelsdonk nature reserve, a former water storage basin of the nearby river Mark. The area has kept its rugged character, you can see flowery grasslands, alder and willow trees. There is a marina on the Westpolderplas. You can make a pit stop here at De Turfvaart, a cozy restaurant. On the quay of the Leurse Haven you pass De Lelie, a beautiful flour mill from 1804.
