Walking through Leur

Leur in Brabant is a beautiful old village that is part of Etten-Leur. Put on your walking shoes for a nice walk through the old village center and along the edges of the polders.

The route starts at De Turfvaart, a cozy restaurant located on a marina. A little later you walk through Moerlaken, a street that is intersected by a watercourse and looks like a park. You pass De Lelie, a beautiful flour mill from 1804. On the harbor quay there are a few new buildings that were built in the style of old warehouses. You can also see an authentic old warehouse there.

At junction 7 you will pass some beautiful monuments, such as the Trouwkerkje from 1614. This church was rebuilt after its thirteenth-century predecessor was destroyed by the Spaniards. Most likely, Adriaen van Bergen, the Leurenaar who was responsible for the conquest of Breda thanks to his peat ship, contributed to this rebuilding. Further down the road you can see two more beautiful villas from around 1900. At De Turfvaart it's time for something delicious!
