Description

Almere lends itself well to a beautiful and varied bike ride. You cycle through city districts that are set up in a playful and innovative way. There is also a lot of special urban nature to be found.

Kotterbos
The route starts at the Oostvaardersdijk. A nice place to immediately relax as you look out over the rippling Markermeer. A little later you have a beautiful view over the rugged Oostvaardersplassen. Get off at the Oostvaarders Nature Experience Center to spot some animals with the binoculars present without disturbing them. Further on you drive between the poplars of the Kotterbos. You will also see willows and reed beds.

Queen Beatrix Park
You drive into Almere along the leafy Lage Vaart. Cycling through Almere you immediately notice how rich this city is in nature. For example, you will pass the Weerwater, a lake that was created by sand extraction during the construction of the We Almere Haven. Further on you pass through the Queen Beatrix Park and the Lepelaarplassen, an unspoilt nature reserve.
