Around Bergen op Zoom you can take a beautiful bike ride through the woods and charming villages in the Dutch-Belgian border area. You also pick up some of the rich history of the Marquisate city itself.
Wouwse Plantation
The first kilometers you cycle your legs in the outskirts of the Belgian Essen. You drive through a landscape of grasslands, streams and small forests. You also drive on the cycle path that has been built right on the border itself. Further on you drive through the sixteenth-century Wouwse Plantage estate. It is also wonderfully quiet cycling in the neighboring estates of Lievensberg and Zoomland. What beautiful forests!
Markiezenhof
In the beautiful city center of Bergen op Zoom you can enjoy the many monumental buildings. You will pass the Grote Markt, among other things. Here you can see, among other things, the Sint-Gertrudiskerk with its striking tower and the Town Hall, the oldest part of which dates from 1403. You will also pass the Markiezenhof, a late Gothic city palace from 1485. On the Binnenschelde you can enjoy a coffee with something delicious at Het Strandhuys. In Huijbergen you can admire the Windmill Johanna from 1862.
