Walking through the Lordship of Gemert.

Gemert is perfect for a beautiful, long walk. This route takes you through the historic center of this old Brabant village. You'll also walk through wooded fields where you'll see several authentic farmhouses.

Knight's Square
Across the street, you can take a quick look at the St. John the Baptist Church, dating from 1437, before passing Gemert Castle shortly after. This castle originally dates from 1391, while the current main building dates from 1740. You can enjoy a beautiful view from the charming square lined with cafés. Further on stands a beautiful, monumental, long-gabled farmhouse.

The Rushes
In the countryside, you'll walk between fields and flower-filled meadows along a stream to De Biezen. This beautiful nature reserve consists of swamp forest and dry oak woodland. It's the perfect time to enjoy the peace and quiet, or simply chat with your fellow hiker(s). You'll also find complete peace in the Grotelse Bos, with its fragrant conifers. On the edge of Gemert, you'll pass the Volksvriend, a former corn mill dating back to 1887.
