De Witte Bergen is a small-scale nature reserve near Someren that is ideal for a wonderful walk. The route also takes you through the mining village of Someren-Eind and the outer area of De Peel.

Someren-Eind is a mining village and was founded in the mid-nineteenth century. The entire Peel (about 30,000 hectares) once consisted of wasteland. Now you walk between fields, grasslands and small-scale forest. Ideal for forgetting the everyday routine. And to chat with your fellow walker(s).

White Mountains
You will also walk through the White Mountains. This name refers to the wide sand drift that this nature reserve once was. Production forests were planted here around 1925 as part of the creation of employment. It is wonderful to walk here between the fragrant coniferous trees. On the banks of the pond you can look out over the rippling water at your leisure. The pond was created in the 1960s, after sand had been excavated for the construction of a provincial road.
