Description
From the former fortified town of Groenlo you cycle on quiet roads past fields and grasslands towards Germany. A little later you pass through Zwilbroek, a border village called Zwillbrock on the German side. Here you can take a look at the beautiful St. Francis Church from 1720. It is the best preserved Baroque church in Münsterland. Back in the Netherlands you cycle through the scenic landscape around Winterswijk. Here you can enjoy a mosaic of forests, stream valleys and rolling ash trees. In Winterswijk itself you can visit Villa Mondriaan. Further on you can get off at Gastrobar Blend 61 for a delicious lunch on the cozy terrace. Just outside the village you drive a bit through the Korenburgerveen nature reserve. At L75 you will learn more about a local plane crash during World War II.
