This cycle route starts with a cup of coffee at Hotel Mercure Zwolle. In the valley of the IJssel you can enjoy the beautiful floodplain landscape. You pass through picturesque towns such as Wijhe and Olst, where you can still clearly see the authenticity of the region. Stop along the way at Geological Museum De IJsselvallei, open for free on the second Saturday and Sunday of the month. Here you will find a private collection of boulders, soil profiles and fossils from the eastern Netherlands. The finds mainly come from the IJsseldal, where the IJssel flows today: this valley was formed in the Third Ice Age, when a glacier eroded the valley. You cycle straight through the beautiful historic Hanseatic town of Zwolle back to your starting point. Enjoy the atmosphere and maybe do some shopping!
