The beautiful old Enkhuizen is a picture with its canals and harbors. This walk takes you across the well-preserved fortress wall where you see beautiful city gates. You will also pass a few interesting small museums.
Nice museums
The route starts at Stationscafé de Haven van Enkhuizen, in the beautiful old station building from 1886. In the city you will find special museums, such as the Enkhuizer Almanac Museum, at the fish auction. In this small museum you can view all kinds of special archive items from the almanac. The Bottle Ship Museum is also a nice museum: here you can view miniature ships in bottles, in an old lock keeper's house from the seventeenth century.
Monumental city gates
This beautiful historic walking route also leads you past the special city gates of Enkhuizen. For example, you will find water gates from the sixteenth century here, which provided access to the city via the water. Enkhuizen is so connected to the water that a gate had to be made in the fortress wall at water level. For example, you will discover De Oude Gouwsboom, the Boerenboom, but also the city gate the Koepoort. This detached monumental building is slightly younger: it dates from 1649. A picture!
