On foot through the Oisterwijkse Vennen

You can take a wonderful walk in the woods in the Oisterwijkse Vennen. This route also takes you past some of the mysterious fens in this nature reserve.

Pine fields
Don't sit there for too long, no matter how tempting this is, because a nice walk awaits you. The Oisterwijkse Vennen was once a vast heathland area. At the end of the nineteenth century, Scots pines were planted for mining and shipbuilding. You mainly walk between fragrant conifers, although nowadays more and more native deciduous trees are also growing.

Fens
You will pass the Voorste Goorven, a beautiful place to enjoy the silence or take a photo. By the way, the word'groor\\\' in this case means swamp! Just before the end point you walk along the edges of the Klein and Groot Aderven. Two fens that were created by wind erosion. This can be deduced, among other things, from the west-southwest location of the fens. Grab a bench and enjoy the blooming lilies.
