Description
This route takes you through the Meierij of 's-Hertogenbosch. This will be a day of enjoying nature and beautiful villages such as Liempde, Sint-Oedenrode and Schijndel.
Picturesque Liempde
Here you drive through a landscape of forests, streams and fields and meadows. An environment that makes your cycling heart beat faster. In the hamlet of Kasteren you pass the former station of the Indische Lijntje, the former railway line between Boxtel and Wesel in Germany. In Liempde, time seems to have stood still in the Dorpsstraat, what a wonderful atmosphere!
Henkenshage Castle
In Sint-Oedenrode you will pass Henkenshage Castle, which has its origins in the Middle Ages. The current building dates from 1875. There are several beautiful old oak trees in the freely accessible castle garden. Further on is Dommelrode: a sixteenth-century castle that now serves as a town hall. Schijndel is also a beautiful village. You will see some monumental buildings, such as the Catharina: a flour mill from 1836.
