Description
This walk takes you for a detour through the city center of Gouda. Put on your walking shoes for a route with many historical sights.
Gouda Cheese Scales
Soon you walk onto the old Market. You see beautiful buildings here, including the sixteenth-century Herthuis and the Kaaswaag from 1670. The town hall dates back to the fifteenth century. Behind the Market you can take a look at the famous Sint-Janskerk.
Old monasteries
On the remainder of your walk you will also see one monumental building after another. For example, you will pass De Roode Leeuw, a corn mill from 1727. On the Hollandse IJssel lies the Havensluis from 1615, a beautiful spot. Further on is Molen't Slot, a corn mill from 1832. Then you will pass three centuries-old former monastery buildings in one street: Huize Groeneweg on the right, the Margarethaconvent and Collatiehuis on the left. What a wonderful historical atmosphere!
