Description
This walk takes you for a detour through the city center of Gouda. Put on your hiking boots for a route with many historical sights.
Gouda cheese weigh house
Soon you walk onto the old Market. You will see beautiful buildings here, including the sixteenth-century Herthuis and the Kaaswaag from 1670. The town hall dates back to the fifteenth century. Behind the Markt you can take a look at the famous Sint-Janskerk.
Ancient monasteries
You will also see one monumental building after another on the remainder of your walk. For example, you pass De Roode Leeuw, a corn mill from 1727. The Havensluis from 1615 is located on the Hollandse IJssel, a beautiful spot. Further on is Molen't Slot, a corn mill from 1832. You will then pass three centuries-old former monastery buildings in one street: Huize Groeneweg on the right, the Margarethaconvent and Collatiehuis on the left. What a wonderful historic atmosphere!
