Alternating Rhenen: Gelderse Vallei and Utrechtse Heuvelrug

Your route starts at Residence Rhenen. Around Rhenen you cycle through a landscape with two faces: the wide Gelderse Vallei and the woods of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. At the foot of the wooded Grebbeberg you cycle along the banks of the Rhine. On the other side of the water you can see some overgrown bastions that date from 1785. You cycle along the brook De Grift into the vast polder with its flowery grasslands. In Veenendaal you can enjoy the friendly atmosphere. In this former peat colony you can visit the Thimble Museum with more than 60,000 thimbles. You will also pass the beautiful Landgoed Prattenburg with its extensive forests. You will find a refreshing silence here. In Rhenen you pass a striking former water tower from 1935.
