Description

A walk through the history of Apeldoorn, a city that was almost completely formed in the nineteenth century. You now walk past beautiful Art Nouveau buildings.

Nineteenth century
From Stayokay Apeldoorn on the edge of the city you can take a nice walk to the old center. You can hardly imagine it, but around 1800 Apeldoorn was still just a village. In the course of the nineteenth century it grew rapidly into a city. Paleis Het Loo gave Apeldoorn an appearance and many rich people wanted to live here once several roads, railway lines and a canal had been built.

Art Nouveau facades
The city is also known for its many beautiful Art Nouveau facades: not for nothing, because this decorative movement with its wavy lines and plant motifs emerged at the end of the nineteenth century. The route also passes monuments from the Second World War:'De Dwangarbeider\\\' monument and'Maple Leaf Monument\\\'. Back at Stayokay Apeldoorn you can have a drink in the cozy bar and a bite to eat in the restaurant. Or stay overnight!
