Description
This route leads you along the babbling Vecht through a wonderfully green environment. You will also come across a few beautiful outdoor places. In Maarssen you can enjoy the many characteristic buildings.
Meandering Fight
Soon you walk along De Kleine Plas, a lake that was created in the 1960s by sand extraction for the Utrecht district of Overvecht. A little later you reach De Vecht. Walking along the meandering river you have beautiful views. What a beautiful spot for a walk!
Outdoor places
The Vecht is known for its many country estates, of which you will encounter a few. Such as Vechtestein, a beautifully white plastered nineteenth-century house with green roof tiles. Huis ten Bosch is also whitewashed. This classicist country estate dates from the seventeenth century and was the town hall for a long time. The old center of Maarssen also has many characteristic buildings: the town has a protected village view for a reason. What a nice atmosphere!
