Your route starts at Ons Backhuys. Heritage is there for the taking in the old fortified city of Weesp. The Tower Fort from 1861 is part of the New Dutch Waterline. Via the beautiful monumental Lange Vechtbrug you walk into the Hoogstraat: an attractive street along the Utrechtse Vecht. It is wonderful to walk here along the water and the many monumental buildings. A little further on you pass the St. Laurentius Church from 1876. In the old city center you can taste the historic atmosphere. One of the many Stolpersteine by the German artist Gunter Demnig is located in the Nieuwstraat. They are reminders for all victims of National Socialism. Literally stumbling stones that you trip over. The Sint-Laurenskerk is a beautiful late Gothic cruciform church from 1462, you can see it on Waagplein.
